The American singer, rapper, record producer and songwriter, Jody Watley, started her career being members of different groups, but then she changed her mind and started her solo career which is still in continue. She was born on January 30, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. She is among one of those few singers who remained changing their singing taste throughout their careers. The founder of Avitone Records has been a fan of Pop, R&B, Jazz, Electronic Soul and Dance music genres and she has sung for all these genres. She won her first Grammy in 1987 in the category of Best New Artist. It was a time when she was starting her solo career leaving all groups. She has been nominated for six times for MTV Video Music Award. She is said to be the only singer who has received such a unique honor besides Madonna and Janet Jackson.
