The American actor Wilson Cruz was born on December 27, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. He was just 19 years old when his parents came to know about his true sexuality that he was a gay. It was the mother who first discovered it, and while she was shocked and hurt at this truth, but eventually she accepted it. The situation was, however, completely changed when the father came to know about it, because he threw him out of the home. It was a tough time for him as he was forced to live inside his car or in the home of other friends. But when he rose to fame and started earning name and money, the father forgave him and accepted him in the house.

He is best known for playing Rickie Vasquez on a show named My So-Called Life. The other popular show of the star is Noah’s Arc. He now serves as a model and the mentor to gay youth, especially the gay youth of color.
After being thrown out of the home by the parents, he thought to test his luck in the acting field, and this idea clicked, as he found himself an acting job on TV series called My So-Called Life where he portrayed Enrique Rockie Vasquez who was a gay teen boy.

He has just one tattoo located on his left shoulder of the Puerto Rican flag. Proud of his heritage he wears the flag proud.
