If your artist doesn't have a book, further more doesn't take a photo of his work on you, I would rethink having him or her do any work on you. Serious. No book? Means you rent confident in your work, haven't done any work (newbie), or your work isn't showable. If he isn't taking a picture of your tatt and its a big piece, or an intricate piece, he may not be doing his best work.

you have to look at their book to see the quality first so if you work doesnt go in there then he or she dont care for it

A lot of tattoo artist now have stopped using the photo album book and started using instagram
