Big no no to use either. If you get an infection, then you apparently did not clean with soap n water and lightly pat dry and moisturize several times a day.

Getting to the point where you think you need either one is just a clear sign of neglect on your part so being more responsible will avoid this problem all together

very true... I also find that artist tend NOT to give precise instructions on clean up. I had one give me the whole run down of do's and don'ts, and then had me sign and initial a form that said I understood the precations and understood cleaning and healing tips. Cant remember how it was worded, but he somehow said that if i fail to follow the cleaning and healing instructions as discussed in great detail, he would not be liable for the tattoo later, should it bleed, scar, etc... thought this was great! ive had this tattoo for well over 16 years and it still looks dope! Needs a little touch up, but all in all, it is still beautiful!

I walked into a shop on a beach in san diego and the guy was trying to tell us that we would have to sign a form stating the artist wasnt resposible for work that you consider unfinished or incorrect so we laughed and walked out.

Good for you... That's an artist who doesn't want to take responsibility for their crappy work, or unfinished work cause they got too tired or felt they under-quoted after service was started. Some artist give other artist bad names....

The best place I went was this little shop and they have you fill out this stuff on a computer about your history. They then print out your stencil and once they are placed, have you sign off again. Making sure you checked the spelling, the placement, and man. I have never been more impressed.
