David James Bryant has been the world singles outdoor bowls championship for three years, including 1966, 1980 and 1998. He was born on October 27, 1931 in Clevedon, North Somerset in England. His performance is also superb in the indoor tournaments as well where he remained the world champion for following years of 1979, 1980 and 1981. He also has honor of winning the Commonwealth Games singles bowls championship for four times during the years of 1962, 1970, 1974 and 1978. He could not win the 1966 Commonwealth Game, because there were no Commonwealth Games held during this year.

He has a total of two tattoos located on his body. He has a very big and large tattoo located on his right chest of the Joker from the comic Batman. He then has a tattoo on the back of his left shoulder of the cartoon character Tasmanian devil.

Looking at his tireless services for the sport of bowling, the English government declared him the Member of the Order of the British Empire. Then, in 1980, he was rewarded with an even bigger and prestigious honor of being ‘Commander of the Order of the British Empire’. He has written a total of four books on his profession. The first such book was written in 1966 with title ‘Bryant on Bowls’, while the last book was written in 1994 with title ‘Bowl to Win’.
